CLONALIS HOUSE

LIFE AT CLONALIS

Life at Clonalis House is all about kicking back with all the ingredients for a lazy weekend in the country. Expect the good-old fashioned hospitality of bygone days, curious history and artwork to pore over. There are roaring turf fires to sit next to and a charismatic ambience brought to life by three generations of custodians that still call Clonalis House home; even the family dog might join you for a walk.

Curl up with a book on a squishy sofa in the library, borrow a pair of wellies and take a stroll in the 700-acre woodland estate, pull up a chair in the elegant dining room under ancient family portraits, enjoy an after-dinner drink by the crackling fire while being regaled with stories by your friendly hosts or take a stroll past the fields and meet the ‘High Kings’ – Pyers’s prize bull and favourite cows whose names reflect the family’s notable history.

OUR ROOMS

Distinctive in character but designed with comfort in mind, our rooms offer the highest quality accommodation and are the perfect place to kick back and unwind.  Think four poster beds, original antiques, heirlooms, fireplaces, cosy blankets on top of crisp white sheets, beautiful big en-suite bath and large double sash windows framing pretty parkland views. Pampering touches include homemade chocolates, coffee table books and magazines to browse and the deliberate absence of televisions only adds to the quiet seclusion.

“Wonderful accommodation and location, plenty to do and a fantastic spot for kids and families.”

Jane Kavanagh

SELF-CATERING COTTAGES

A PEACEFUL HOME FROM HOME

Calm, uncluttered country chic: the four self-catering cottages, tucked away in the courtyard, have been fashioned from the former granary and coach houses, and are country-farmhouse inspired, decorated with a timeless good taste and all the modern comforts. They are smart but low-key, up-to-date but homely: think exposed wooden beams, open fires, fully-equipped kitchens, period pieces, shaker-style painted furniture, fat cushions and super soft comfy beds, plus welcome treats on arrival.

Experience the beauty of Clonalis Estate, a place surrounded by nature. Wander through the native woodland paths, play a game of tennis or simply take a drink and sketch pad and enjoy the view.

A COUNTRY HAVEN

Located within the grounds of a 700-acre private estate surrounded by forests and meadows, they are perfectly secluded, ideal for rural escapes with family and friends but also within walking distance to the town of Castlerea with plenty of handy amenities such as two cafes, a bakery, two supermarkets, bars, restaurants, a golf course right on the doorstep and plenty of family-friendly activities nearby. Extra touches include a welcome package on arrival and the addition of the Old Forge, a large self-contained room, offers a very handy private dining room to group accommodation bookings

“This is a wonderful place to stay and the setting exceptional. The interiors are charming and comfortable with all the conveniences. Most of all, it was the peace and tranquillity that we loved.”

Jacqui Mahon
